Book of the Week: Stuck by Oliver Jeffers

Summary
When Floyd’s kite gets stuck in a tree, he’s determined to get it out. But how? Well, by knocking it down with his shoe, of course. But strangely enough, it too gets stuck. And the only logical course of action . . . is to throw his other shoe. Only now it’s stuck! Surely there must be something he can use to get his kite unstuck. An orangutan? A boat? His front door? Yes, yes, and yes. And that’s only the beginning.

Oliver Jeffers creates wonderful picture books. I’m always excited when he has a new book coming out because I know it’s going to be just what I look for in a great read aloud.  Oliver Jeffers never disappoints. Stuck is laugh out loud funny and  filled with the unexpected. His drawings are simple and yet so expressive. The story has wide appeal for many ages and I’ve read it in family story time and for my Reading Buddies program and it was a hit. It makes a wonderful flannel board story as the children can add the items to the tree one by one… patterns for this will be posted in the coming week!!

Highly recommended.
