Storytime with Jen goes to the Movies-Brave

This past weekend my son (age 11) and I had a movie date. We went to see Disney-Pixar’s Brave. I had high expectations and this movie met every single one of them. It was funny, and beautiful and heart warming. I loved hearing my son laugh out loud at the antics of Merida’s three little brothers. Be sure to see it in the theatre, I’m glad I did as I know that my TV would not have done the movie justice.
What was an unexpected surprise was the short animation that came before the feature film.
La Luna:

Summary (from IMDB)
A fable of a young boy who is coming of age in the most peculiar of circumstances. Tonight is the very first time his Papa and Grandpa are taking him to work. In an old wooden boat they row far out to sea, and with no land in sight, they stop and wait. A big surprise awaits the little boy as he discovers his family’s most unusual line of work. Should he follow the example of his Papa, or his Grandpa? Will he be able to find his own way in the midst of their conflicting opinions and timeworn traditions?

This short was absolutely stunning.  Only 7 minutes, but powerful and really impacted both of us. I will never look at the moon in quite the same way. I really hope this will be a part of the Brave DVD when it releases.

Just had to share my thoughts with you.
